Heritage

What is this heritage that I am living and participating in?
The heritage of being part of a diverse country with such a rich heritage.
Sometimes it takes one on a rollercoaster of emotions thinking about where it all stems from and how through the rainbow nation a child is raised by a village.
Our Ubuntu is written on my heart for the many who bled so that we could be free.
This heritage defines part of our life struggles, but it ignites our laughter as we know who we are and where we come from.
In the uncertainties of tomorrow, we still sing our song of joy as we stand together and rise above our differences.
This is us, South Africa, in the fields the wind blows, the sea waves move and the drumbeat of Africa flows in our veins.
It is this flow that brings nations together and unites us all as one.
Heritage is our heritage which we are not ashamed of as it has shaped us and is from the very breast, we have drunk life.
We all walk with pride for the richness of our land is founded on our love for who we are as a nation, and nothing can destroy love.
There are struggles but our land is our hope, and we live in reconciliation and rejoice in being a community.
Through the rise and fall, we still have our heritage and cannot be erased.
It is embedded in us and still, we rise and know that I exist because of you.

This is a legacy worth living for Our Africa, beloved Africa together we are victorious, and we sing for a new day has come.
My heritage, your heritage, we are one and we serve each other, and we can look past our differences and see that we are uniquely made to make a difference and be the change in the world that we wish to see.

Awake and be counted and let us continue to praise and soar.

May we be saluted among many for our heritage never fades.
